Girl's night in. Wolverine has to watch Kitty, Amp (The chick from the first issue or two), Illyana, and Siryn all while trying to watch the Stanley Cup. Hilarity ensues. Seriously.

Commentary:
So to sum up real quick before we start, this is the Wolverine book you should be reading (well, this or Origins). Not the regular Wolverine book (at least, until Millar disappears again).

The jist of this issue is all about Kitty Pryde liking Colossus. The X-team is going out on the town with Moira and Banshee and Wolverine stays home to watch the Stanley Cup and is left to keep track of the girls at home. He of course threatens them that if they make him miss the game, very bad things will happen to them. I mean, what could go wrong with three pre-teen girls involved?

A lot, judging by the comic herein. You see, Kitty really likes Colossus, and before their little slumber party, Siryn is slipped a note by Colossus and immediately Kitty gets angry. She thinks that because Siryn is older and more developed, ahem, that Colossus has more in common with her.

Of course the girls have to do something bad so they start with a truth telling game. Kitty tells Amp what's bothering her, then Amp tells Siryn she likes a boy, who just so happens to have a crush on Siryn, so now Amp is mad at Siryn as well. Not to mention the adventure they had into the Danger Room to show off the cool factor of the X-mansion, the robots they fought are now searching for a threat to them and Wolverine is the only visible threat. He of course, slashes and dashes, the girls find out that each other had a misunderstanding, and Siryn makes amends and they're all one big happy family.

Except Wolverine, who is pissed that he missed the game.

Not much to say about this issue. Van Lente and Espin are a great team here and the way they balance the two stories of the gruff older Wolverine with the young girls is remarkable. The way they are capable of making us believe that this story takes place within continuity is another nice touch that I love. Even though they've updated the surroundings (Wolverine is watching an LCD flat screen and has a small number of DVDs next to it), we still feel like this story could have very well happened right after Kitty joined the team.

So this book is a win, every single time. I will continue picking this up for the foreseeable future.
