Summer is right around the corner and that’s great news for a lot of people. But us. That said, we wouldn’t be able to live with ourselves if we didn’t suggest some movies and movie related material for you, our loyal readers, to go through and get you through those scolding hot summer days. Remember that when you buy through us, you support Cinema Crazed, and if you can’t spare a donation, that’s just as good. So please, show us some love, if you can. Here are some suggestions for Mr. and Mrs. Movie Loving Public.
Charles Bronson 4 Movie Collection
From Mill Creek Entertainment comes 4 Charles Bronson films on Blu-Ray at a respectable price together for the first time. Among the collection, there’s “The Valachi Papers” from 1972, a classic movie based on the book, starring Bronson as Joe Valachi, an informant from the mafia after mobster Vito Genovese has put a contract on him. “The Stone Killer” from 1973 is directed by “Death Wish” director Michael Weiner, with Bronson as a New York cop who learns a gangster is planning a massacre and revenge concerning organized crime.
There’s also “Breakout” from 1975, starring Bronson as a bush pilot who is hired by a woman to break out her husband from a Mexican prison. Finally, there’s 1975’s “Hard Times,” the directorial debut of Walter Hill of “The Warriors” and “48 Hrs.” fame who directs Bronson as a bare knuckle boxer who is taken on by a promoter, played by James Coburn. All four films are on two separate discs, and while they’re bereft of special features, they’re a fine addition to any Bronson collection. Buy It Here!
Slash Cards: The Horror Movie Trivia Game by Slash Cards
If you consider yourself a serious horror buff, I hear that this game is tough. Played like an elimination game, you’re given a specific number of cards, and for every answer that’s wrong, you lose a card. It covers over 400 horror movies, and it looks challenging. All in all, it’s a simple but fun idea for two to six players and I am almost certain I’d dominate this game. Buy it Here!
Jurassic Park 25th Anniversary Collection
With the release of “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” what better way to celebrate than to re-visit the entire series all over again? “Jurassic Park” is of course my absolute favorite, and the next box set goes all the way to the smash hit “Jurassic World.” The set comes with Digital copies of the films, a ton of extras for hardcore fans, and of course copies of the entire series in physical form on Blu-Ray and 4K Ultra HD. Action Triple Feature Bundle
Available on DVD altogether, there’s “Vehicle 19,” a Paul Walker starring action film involving his rental car that happens to have a hostage in its trunk. Holding important information to stop police corruption, he and she becomes the target of authorities who want her at all costs. “Go!” is a fun post-“Pulp Fiction” action comedy starring a ton of late nineties up and comers including Sarah Polley.
Set in real time, we follow a slew of characters as they all get in to trouble over a matter of hours. Confronting gangsters, real life drug dealers, and even homicidal strippers, “Go!” is a nineties gem. Finally, there’s “The Junkman,” a high speed action thriller involving a stunt man who becomes the target of a group of killers tracking his every move. Racing against them, he has to avoid their murder attempts and make it out alive. All three films come in one set, and while they’re repackaged Mill Creek releases, it’s a neat set. Buy it Here!
What would a gift guide be without suggesting a book from friendly neighborhood film cricket Felix Vasquez? Focusing on the superhero movies of the nineties, “Super Schlock!” is a look at the superhero movies that made it to theaters and television long before “Iron Man” and “Blade” became household names, and long before there was such a thing as the MCU. It’s on sale on digital or paperback. Buy It Here!
